Nau mai, whakatau mai ki te whare o #HīkoiTo100. Welcome to the #HīkoiTo100 hub. We know there is a lot of noise out there about COVID-19 and it can be confusing to navigate.

This website is your Ngāti Kuri safe space for trusted information around COVID-19, giveaways, safety tips and updates on how you can join the #Hīkoi, hōake tātou!

#HikoiTo100 is a Ngāti Kuri movement to rally our iwi to get vaccinated. The hīkoi will build towards an outdoor music festival at the end of summer to celebrate our resilience as an iwi, with our community and those who are vaccinated. Headline acts to be announced soon.

Why Hīkoi?

Hīkoi are known to have started in Te Rerenga Wairua, and over the years hīkoi has been associated with activism. Now, as the first people to hīkoi, we are taking this movement from activism to actionism.

Why 100?

#HīkoiTo100 is a hīkoi to safety and it reflects that as Māori anything you put your hand to, you do it at 100% – especially when it comes to kaupapa. Me haere mā raro Ngāti Kuri mā!

Piki mai, kake mai ki tēnei kaupapa a tātou.

We have already made strong progress on this hīkoi. Let’s support each other as we journey towards a 100% vaccinated iwi. Check back here to stay up to date with our progress.

As with many of our Māori communities, the Flu epidemic of the 1890’s, the 1918 Spanish Flu, Tuberculosis and Polio had a significant impact on Ngāti Kuri. We want to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is our first best defence to protecting our whakapapa. #HikoiTo100 mobilizes the movement and asks everyone to be a good tupuna.
